__"I suppose you appreciate the condition of affairs here, sir! It's another Bull Run, sir! It's another Bull Run!" - Union General Phil Kearney, August 30, 1862.
_The Battle of Second Manassas is little noted in the massive historiography of Civil War literature.
In spite of being the seventh most deadly battle of the war, this fight
near the the seminal battlefield of First Bull Run is virtually unknown
in popular histories of the war. No Hollywood movies have been made
about it, no Pulitzer Prizes have been awarded to battle histories.
Indeed, less than ten full length books have been dedicated to the
battle that John J. Hennessy claims came "as close to destroying a Union army
as any ever would."
It is in the spirit of remembrance to the soldiers of both sides who fought on those three terrible days, August 28-30 1862, that this site is dedicated - Neal West, MNBP volunteer, 2012.
